A person has died as a result of a dispute between children in Nangarhar.

The Nangarhar Police Command says that a person died in a dispute between two families over children in the jurisdiction of the 8th Security Zone in Jalalabad city, the provincial capital of Nangarhar province.

Police spokesperson Syed Taib Hamad told Radio Free Europe that the dispute occurred three days ago, resulting in injuries to one person from a family.

He said the injured person was sent to Nangarhar Regional Hospital for treatment and died there today.

Hamad also said that security forces have arrested two people in connection with the incident and will hand them over to judicial authorities after investigations.

White House nominates new Head for USAGM

The White House has noninated Sarah B. Rogers, currently the U.S. Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, to be Chief Executive Officer of the United States Agency for Global Media. Her nomination was sent to the Senate on Thursday.

The Nangarhar Police Command reports that two children have been killed and five others injured as a result of the explosion of an unexploded ordnance in the Bati Kot district of the province.

Spokesman for the police command, Syed Taib Hamad, told Radio Free Europe that the incident occurred in the Spīn Khwar area, belonging to Farm Four in the Bati Kot district.

Hamad adds that the children ignited the ordnance, causing it to explode.

He says that security forces immediately arrived at the scene of the incident and transported the injured to Nangarhar Regional Hospital for treatment.
