"Our goal is to find what is beautiful in each of us and nurture it, and to help one another in that process. This doesn't mean we need to accept when people hurt each other, or that we shouldn't look to interrupt harm. It just means that we need to understand that each of us are fuckups. That all of us are stumbling, awkwardly, towards grace and beauty, and that we can help lift one another instead of shoving one another down." ❤️ #RadicalPositivity

I love that everyone is really resonating with the new #Superman movie and it's message of "kindness is the new punk rock" (if you haven't seen it yet -- go do that right now)! It seems like a lot of people are ready to embrace the idea of sincerity and doing good just for the sake of it, and that's definitely right up my alley!

I do wonder, though, if people truly understand what that means. In the movie, Superman isn't just saving little kids and squirrels, but he also spares his arch-enemy #LexLuthor and even recognizes his humanity. Being kind to everyone doesn't only mean being nice to the people you already like or agree with, but also to those who disagree with you or even hate you.

This doesn't mean we should just let others walk all over us, but we at least need to recognize that everyone is deserving of love and respect just for being a fellow human and act accordingly, even to people we dislike. After all, that's what Superman would do! 😊❤️

Within each of us is a well that we use to store our #love. If our well is overflowing, we can freely share that love with the world. When that well is low, however, we often seek out others to help us refill it. While that can keep us going in the short term, it's not sustainable, as the love we receive has been filtered through our own perceptions and converted into gratitude, which is not the same thing. It would be like trying to fill a car's gas tank with exhaust.

The only person who can truly fill that well is ourselves. We must know who we are and believe that person is worthy of love as they are, rather than how others see us. Otherwise, we will continue to look for others to fill us up and suck their wells dry in the process.

While that may be hard in this capitalist world that reflects our flaws constantly, loving yourself can be an amazing form of resistance. So, find ways to discover your true self and believe that you are worthy of love. Because you are. 😊❤️

Whatever comes in the next four years, just remember that you matter, you are valid, and no law or judge can take that away from you. They may try to strip you of everything you hold dear, but they cannot take your soul. Do what you must to protect yourself, but cling to that thought as much as possible. Stay safe, stay strong, stay alive, and most importantly, stay together. We will survive this, and we will come out stronger for it. #RadicalPositivity ✊❤️
A beautiful video from @sophie_frm_mars about the importance of building community and supporting each other in the face of authoritarianism. Just keep telling yourself: I believe that we will win! ✊❤️ #RadicalPositivity

It's my one year anniversary of starting on #Mastodon and, more importantly, coming out as #trans! 🎉

I realize I haven't been posting much here lately, but that's mostly because I've been devoting my time to building community locally. In person connections are so important, especially as more and more online services get shut down or enshittified.

Still, not everyone has the means to do so, and so platforms like those in the #fediverse continue to play a pivotal role in keeping our communities together. For my part, I will keep on championing #RadicalPositivity as we will need all the positive energy we can get to sustain our fight against #fascism and right-wing extremism.

Stay strong, fediverse! The road ahead is long and perilous, but we're just getting started. As always, we're stronger together! 😊❤️

There is a practice in software development called "The 5 Whys" that is used to help track down the root cause of bugs. You start with the original problem and ask why it is happening, and once you have an answer, you then ask why that is happening, and so on. The theory goes that you'll find your root cause after going through this loop several times.

However, this practice can also apply to our own beliefs and habits. Ask yourself why you're doing something, and then keep asking until you get down to the core belief that is driving your actions. This can help uncover our unconscious biases and also take steps towards changing our behaviors.

So the next time you find yourself in a rut, #fediverse, start asking yourself why. You might be surprised at what you find! 😀❤️

There is comfort in a big, strong leader taking charge and making tough decisions for the rest of the community, as it removes our responsibility to act and ensures a cohesive vision for the future. But even the most benevolent dictator still wields immense power and can easily slip into authoritarianism if they're not careful.

Instead, true leaders seek to serve their community in whatever ways are necessary for its continued survival. Whether that's as a teacher, a guide, a protector, or a provider, these leaders know that their real power is in helping others succeed and that we can't do it alone.

So if you're looking for a strongman to save us, #fediverse, instead look for the helpers. They will be our true salvation. 😊❤️
