The bicycles 🧵 First up is the Joule Mule, a 2025 Rad Power Radster Road. I picked this up a few months back and it got me back into riding bikes. I use this…
Wait, so Rad Power Bikes is like the Tesla of electric bicycles?
Not my e-bike. But, something to be aware of if you have one.
Rad Power is a usually high rated e-bike.

These folding grocery panniers I got for my birthday earlier this year are so good. They make grocery shopping a breeze. The two of them together kind of perfectly fill the top deck of a Whole Foods mini shopping cart. I did a bit of a weight test with them tonight, hauling 2x 12 packs of glass-bottled mineral water.
I have to wonder if one of those long-tail cargo bikes could fit 2 pairs of these panniers.
Putting any cargo up front is more problematic because of the suspension fork, I think.

CPSC: CPSC Warns Consumers to Immediately Stop Using Batteries for E-Bikes from Rad Power Bikes Due to Fire Hazard; Risk of Serious Injury or Death
"WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is warning consumers to immediately stop using lithium-ion batteries for Rad Power Bikes e-bikes, model numbers RP-1304 and HL-RP-S1304, because the batteries pose a risk of serious injury and death.
The hazardous batteries can unexpectedly ignite and explode, posing a fire hazard to consumers, especially when the battery or the harness has been exposed to water and debris. CPSC is aware of 31 reports of fire, including 12 reports of property damage totaling approximately $734,500. Some of these incidents occurred when the battery was not charging, the product was not in use, and the product was in storage. ..."
I really, really, REALLY want to buy an e-bike (for years!), but have no place to ride it. I live in an Austin suburb, in a large subdivision approximately 3 miles from our downtown. But there is no safe way to ride there, since the connecting road has a 50-60 mph speed limit. Can't justify the expense just to ride around my neighborhood. Convince me that I am wrong, please!
Disclosure: This is just me throwing a pity party for myself.
