#RPAdmin: So, a quick 🧵 on CWs.

What I ask, at minimum, is that people on retro.pizza make a good-faith effort to pause before posting something that they want to share because it made them angry and put a content warning on it. Just go with your gut: Are you posting it because it made you mad, or feel despair, or feel hopeless? Then just CW it. You're welcome to do more than that, to CW news posts in general or CW food pics for people with eating disorders or CW insects. But bare minimum, if you're posting it because it makes you angry, please CW it. 🧵 1/4

A clarification on my announcement about taking CWs more seriously: What I’m most concerned about is the subjects that are making people genuinely, legitimately afraid for their lives, their well-being, or that of their loved ones. Posts about ICE need a CW. Posts about anti-trans polices and legislation need a CW. Posts about lower-stakes political topics like tariffs are less of a priority.

Just please, stop and think: Is the subject you’re posting about something that is currently or threatening to be causing direct harm to people in our community? If so, CW it so people can have a choice. A special thing about Retro Pizza is that a LOT of people read the Local feed and make friends with folks there. Remember that’s the community you’re part of.

Hey Retro Pizza, as of today we are on Mastodon 4.5!

What does that mean?

Most significantly, you can now quote-boost! If you'd rather people not quote-boost you, you can change that under Preferences > Other.

Also this version is better about pulling remote replies to remote posts, which is great for a little server like ours!

Also I just finished my second watch of that leaked Micronauts cartoon and I'm not sure what to do with my life now. I need more people to be excited about it with me.

When I do my next revision of the server rules, I should make sure to clarify that it's perfectly acceptable to express positive feelings about the deaths of horrible people, unlike SOME social media platforms. #RPAdmin

I don’t plug the server donations too hard because we’re paying our bill hosting bill with what I’m already getting, but the extra that’s my “tip” for keeping things running is actually a huge help with as tight as my budget is these days and right now at the end of the month when I need to “run the numbers” I really, really appreciate it.  #RPAdmin
