"The HLG seems to have run the exact same conversations that the law enforcement community has been rehashing internally since the 1990s. Only this time they attempted to introduce new concepts or reframe existing ones in an effort to cover their political agenda: giving police forces the most unrestricted access possible to (encrypted) data."
As usual they want to weaken encryption.

This law won't protect the children. What it will do is break encryption to directly surveill EU citizens.
It will mean your private messages will be available to the "bad guys".

Even back then governments were trying to interfere with the internet with weak cryptography. I love the RFC number. Read each point. It's still very relevant all these years later.
