I've still playing Rollercoaster Tycoon 3. I'm on the map 7/18. Most objectives continue to be quick except for any that require paying back a loan or making enough money to afford a rollercoaster. I'm still getting my bearings on what to charge for each type of ride to maximize cash.
I think the objective system (compared to RCT1) is nice. I haven't seen any time sensitive failure points. In fact, the only way to really lose would be to trap yourself in debt. Time objectives are usually to hold a guest count or rating for a few months and if you do it quickly you finish quickly. VIPs will always visit again if you don't meet their wants. The variety is refreshing.
I'd say the big downside is the feeling of running the park. Since you can blitz the completion you don't really need to think long term. I don't really think I'm making the park my own and you can just build around problems instead of solving them.
