I have had a search saved on eBay for a JOCC Chicksands coin for years, just in case one ever appeared. This one showed up a couple of weeks ago for a reasonable price, and I was happy to buy it. I was only back in JOCC for a little over a year before it closed, but it was a memorable year where I learned a lot and worked with a bunch of great folks. #RAFChicksands #KE0FFThingsInMyShack #KE0FFT

I found this video today (it’s been on YouTube awhile) offering more technical info on the #ANFLR9 #ElephantCage #antenna than you’ll find anywhere without doing a lot of reading. The presentation includes this graphic, which is the first I’ve seen comparing the size of an #ElephantCageAntenna to the size of the U.S. Pentagon: https://youtu.be/4sgAGWPNSUQ

The best thing about my Air Force experience has been enduring friendships. John was my trainer at #RAFChicksands in England when I was learning to be a Morse code op. That was back in 1992. I called him on Friday evening to let him know I was in Omaha (he lives near Des Moines); he made the 2hr drive to come visit. We went to the Old Market downtown yesterday and we had the best dinner I’ve had in years at Trini’s Mexican Restaurant there. It’s crazy that it’s been over 30 years since we met.
