Couple years ago there was published an important science book called "Klusumā" (Inside the silence), and it is about queer life in Soviet times in my country. In the preface researchers talk about the hardships finding queers of that generation for interviewing – they hoped to do it via younger queer generations, but that connection isn't there. This Pride month the realization of what that actually mean hit me like a brick in the chest.
