Spent most of the weekend isolating in my lair, overwhelmed from too much physical and interpersonal strenuousness for cranky body and brain. Managed to break the cycle and get out here to look at a tree today, and I'm... well, not all better, but at least better than I was.

Just slept for eleven hours in a row, and now I'm finally feeling reasonably rested after the past week's assorted mishegas. Sometimes the urge to sleep a whole lot is pure and simple exhaustion, totally aside from any depression going on (and depression is exhausting too, TBH), so I've slowly learned to give myself permission to sleep long and not further upset myself by worrying about it.

I find myself wondering about the history of this snag. Even decapitated like this, it towers over passing pedestrians. It must have been mighty in its prime. I am not the best tree identifier to begin with and have even less clue here, but I welcome anyone with a guess as to what kind of tree it is/was.
