A new FAIR survey of 8,744 male donors found 7.5% now identify as bisexual, gay, pansexual, queer, bicurious, or sexually fluid — up from 1.8% in 2014. Banned outright in the 1980s, lifted in 2011 with a twelve-month abstinence rule, cut to three months in 2017. In 2021 England moved to behavior-based screening — risk by what you do, not who you love. They called our veins a hazard. Now they are somebody's second chance.
