"In its early years, quantum mechanics was known as Knabenphysik, German for “boys’ physics,” highlighting the youth of many of the physicists involved — and simultaneously assuming their gender. But women were working in the field all along..."

The latest AASWomen newsletter [1] includes a link to a review [2] of the book "Women in the History of Quantum Physics" edited by Patrick Charbonneau, Michelle Frank, Margriet van der Heijden and Daniela Monaldi.

Should be interesting to dig through the recent quantum history page [3] to see if the names are all there.

The City of Göttingen is now an EPS Historic Site!

In this "International Year of Quantum Science and Technology" 2025, the European Physical Society honours the City of Göttingen with the title "EPS Historic Site". Quantum mechanics was founded 100 years ago in Göttingen.

Earlier in tonight's ongoing live stream of the award ceremony (in English, on Youtube, link see below), the memorial plaque that will be on display in front of the Forum Wissen on Bürgerstraße has been revealed, with a QR Code that will point visitors to the "Quantum History Wall".
