“Instead of paying humans to join focus groups and complete surveys, #Auru uses thousands of #AI agents, or bots, to simulate human responses. It feeds #demographic and psychographic information into its models to create human profiles that match clients’ needs, and the results those bots spit out are being used for product #development, #pricing, identifying new customers and political #polling.”

Researchers have warned about the inaccuracies of treating #LLMs as human proxies (https://doi.org/10.1007/s10462-025-11297-5), but I wouldn’t be surprised #languageModels beat #qualitative interpretation of non-representative focus groups.

This week is #LoveDataWeek and I just presented the new version of our #qualitative data guide at an event of Flemish Research Data Network #LoveData26 #FAIRData #OpenScience https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.8319060
Making Qualitative Data Reusable - A Short Guidebook For Researchers And Data Stewards Working With Qualitative Data

This guidebook aims to give an overview of the challenges associated with making qualitative data reusable as well as providing guidance on how reusability can be improved and addressed at all stages of the research data life cycle. The guide includes a set of decision trees (also published separately and available at doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18390982) that researchers and data stewards can use to evaluate the options for making qualitative data reusable that are most suited for their projects. This is the third version of the guide which incorporated community feedback and extended the available information. The guide now includes a section on preregistration of qualitative data and ethical aspects including the CARE principles.

If you write an autoethnogaphy with someone else, that's "Collaborative Autoethnography".

Here's a slide show I prepared based on the book by Chang, Ngunjiri, and Hernandez (2013). This will introduce you to a range of models for completing an autoethnography with collaborators.

Are you interested in autoethnography? Here is a slide show I made to introduce others to autoethnography and prepare them to begin working on a collaborative research project. It is an adaption of Heewon Chang's "Autoethnography as Method" (2008).
