On #ThisDayInHistory in 1875, revolutionary #QiuJin was born in #China. She had #BoundFeet and an #ArrangedMarriage, but fled both -- unbound her feet, adopted men's clothing, and studied politics and #feminism. She was executed in 1907 for a rebellion against the #Qing dynasty.
Qiu Jin fou una feminista i escriptora xinesa, revolucionària contra l'imperi Qing. Fou executada després d'un alçament fallit, però la seva mort fou una de les espurnes que van marcar la fi de l'Imperi Xinés i el naixement de la República. #inktober2025 #QiuJin

I have created a webpage that documents all my receipts and provides a detailed timeline of the events related to the British Museum's use of my translations of Chinese feminist Qiu Jin's poetry without permission, credit, or pay earlier this year.

Please spread it widely to help me combat gaslighting and disinformation. Please always point folks to this webpage when discussing the incident.

Yilin's translations of Qiu Jin's poetry & fight with the British Museum - Yilin Wang

happy holidays to everyone except those who are responsible for and approved the podcast (that i discovered two days ago) that minimizes and misrepresents the British Museum's use of my translations of Qiu Jin's poetry without credit, pay, and permission earlier this year

There's a saying, 年少不知词中意,读懂已是词中人 (When I was young I didn't understand the poem's meaning; when I finally understood, I had become a part of the poetry)

I finally finished editing my essay on translating Qiu Jin's poetry that was derailed (by the British Museum) more than two months ago!!!

#BritishMuseum settles case with @yilinwriter after using her work #translating Chinese feminist #poet #QiuJin, then removing it, all w/o permission, credit, or payment.

“The worst possible outcome. The public are now not only being denied the chance to see my translations, and to know who wrote them, but also the chance to read Qiu Jin’s words too ... two female writers of colour have both had their work erased. We are not disposable.”
