Non ci arrenderemo finché non vi faremo pentire di questo grave errore di valutazione", ha dichiarato il Segretario del Supremo consiglui per la sicurezza dell'Iran Ali Larijani su X. Che ha inoltre minacciato di prendere di mira le reti elettriche della regione qualora gli americani decidano di colpire le forniture di energia elettrica della Repubblica islamica. "Se lo facessero, l'intera regione piomberebbe nell'oscurità in meno di mezz'ora e l'oscurità offrirebbe ampie opportunità per dare la caccia ai militari americani che fuggono in cerca di riparo", ha sottolineato Larijani.
Trump aveva affermato nei giorni vscorsi che le forze statunitensi avrebbero potuto interrompere la fornitura di energia elettrica all'Iran "entro un'ora", lasciando il Paese con una ricostruzione che avrebbe potuto richiedere almeno una generazione. L'Iran ha inoltre minacciato di devastare l'industria petrolifera e del gas della regione qualora le sue infrastrutture energetiche vengano attaccate. "Daremo fuoco ai giacimenti di petrolio e gas della regione non appena verranno toccate le infrastrutture energetiche e ai porti iraniani", ha dichiarato il portavoce del comando operativo centrale dell'esercito iraniano, Khatam al-Anbiya.
Il presidente del parlamento iraniano, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, ha avvertito che Teheran "abbandonerà ogni moderazione" se Usa e Israele attaccheranno una qualsiasi delle isole nel Golfo. "Qualsiasi aggressione contro le isole iraniane farà crollare ogni freno e riempiremo il Golfo Persico con il sangue degli invasori", ha dichiarato Qalibaf in un post su X. Non è stato subito chiaro a quali isole si riferisse, ma un recente rapporto di Axios ha citato funzionari statunitensi secondo cui la cattura di Khark era sul tavolo. Sull'isoletta si trova il più grande terminal petrolifero del Paese.
