My #qrplabs #qmxplus and #morserino shipment is scheduled to arrive today. When did kit radios develop such an open source vibe? Maybe the Norcal projects of the nineties? It's a strange overlap with #linux and #hamradio.
Made a start on my #QRPLabs #QMX #AmateurRadio Transceiver today. Glad I have an #Optivisor, as it’s very compact! #QRP #HamRadio #AmateurFunk

Jeff W1NC has already fixed my #QRPLabs QMX+ and it's on the way home again!

#SSB on the #QRPLabs #QMX+ 5W HF transceiver is just so unnecessarily painful. The built-in microphone doesn't work. Standard microphones don't work.

The very specific microphone capsule required goes for 21 € inc. shipping from Digikey. A finished microphone assembly by G7UFO is 41,85 € inc. shipping. The whole QMX+ kit is only 125 USD, on comparison.

I have revision 4 of the PCB. Really would have expected it to have been fixed to take any microphone by now, or come with the microphone.

Yesterday I was able to do a QRP POTA activation at US-4160, a new park for me. I made 28 FT8/FT4 contacts, well 27 because one was a dupe. I used the QDX but need to get the QMX+ out in the field next. I am excited that one of the contacts was from Gibraltar! #qrp #qrplabs #pota #HamRadio
Just participeted in a group-order for the #QRPLabs QMX+ being very excited what to expect... Delivery somewhere march/April.
Wound for 12v PA, running 12v in and seeing ~3w out on the High Bands up to almost 6 on 160m. I get about 3-4 on the 40-20m bands. Looks good. Picking up some RF so far so good. @qrplabs QMX+ #qrp #qrplabs #HamRadio
First POTA of 2026 - Whiskey 9 Bravo Lima November

So my first attempt to take out the QDX on its first POTA ended up in failure because I forgot the power cord on Tuesday Jan 6th.  I was kind...

After building the #QRPLabs QMX+ transceiver I got a bit into #WSPR, #FT8 and #FT4 to see how far 3 to 5 Watts can get me.

There's not much else in the #hamradio world that puzzles me as much as the lack of support for compund or special callsigns in these modes. On one instance I couldn't make an FT8 call from my station EA8/DC6ST to a Russian ham visiting Belarus because the two compound callsigns did not leave any space for signal reports or even a "73" in the message.
