Case-to-Condition Ratios in Qualitative Comparative Analysis: Adding Cases Instead of Removing Conditions
https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/1525822X241231479 #QCA This is a good discussion about N and case selection in QCA embedded in the broader case-to-condition ratio discussion

I gave https://zendy.io a try, which has #AI features for summarizing papers and answering any question. On the question what the solution type is that one should present in a #QCA study, the answer is the parsimonious solution. This is not satisfying because there is an ongoing debate in which only one 1/

Our research reveals different policy configurations that successfully promote the uptake of BEV in cities in Europe.
Urban context matters. Thus, BEV policies should be carefully and dynamically tailored to the local context.

The Association for European Transport's European Transport Conference is Europe's oldest multi-disciplinary, multi-stream annual transport conference.

I've read quite a few articles on qualitative comparative analysis (#QCA), but nothing quite so broad as Charles Ragin's The Comparative Method book. It's a good mix of conceptual & practical, argument for a qualitative/quantitative compromise, and focused on political #sociology examples I'm familiar with. QCA uses a #boolean approach, looking for the combined effect/process of multiple variables upon outcomes. Fascinating & pitched at those w/ #stats knowledge. https://www.ucpress.edu/book/9780520280038/the-comparative-method #reading
The Comparative Method

Charles C. Ragin's The Comparative Method proposes a synthetic strategy, based on an application of Boolean algebra, that combines the strengths of both qualitative and quantitative sociology. Elegantly accessible and germane to the work of all the social sciences, and now updated with a new introduction, this book will continue to garner interest, debate, and praise.

#QCA co-signed an Open Letter regarding the Animals (Low-Welfare Activities Abroad) Act. Duncan McNair (Save The Asian Elephants & the Low-Welfare Act Coalition) explains that this bill, ‘passed by Parliament last September amid overwhelming public support, has stalled …. Nearly 6 months on & silence from Environment Secretary Steve Barclay who should by now have consulted stakeholders & drawn up regulations on cruel overseas #animaltourism activities to be banned from domestic advertising’
Members of Quaker Concern for Animals will be meeting online on Saturday 24th February at 10.00am to agree on #Quaker quotes we would like to see included in our Quaker #FaithAndPractice. If you would like to attend please do consider joining #QCA. It is a great way to stay connected to what we are doing and we would love to welcome more members. It costs £15 for individuals and £20 for Quaker Meetings.

The #QCA community met in Antwerpen, Belgium, to discuss the most recent methodological developments. Adrian Dusa, Sofia Pagliarin, and I presented how Trajectory-Based QCA will be implemented in R (requires QCA and Venn for R). Brian Castellani and I showed how complex-it-data.org can process set-theoretical data in (among others) self-organizing maps. We also showed how machine learning can be paired to calibration and case clustering by researchers. Lasse Gerrits and I would like to thank the organisers for the opportunity to present at the 11th International QCA Workshops, Antwerp 2023...

Today, the Call for Abstracts for the QCA Paper Development Workshop (Antwerp, Dec 12-13) ends - an excellent opportunity to get feedback on work-in-progress #QCA studies: https://compasss.org/intlqca/abstracts_2023/
The way that I know my supervisor hates me is that she gave me qualitative comparative analysis to run on our project, and I have to figure it out all on my own. Help is appreciated! #QualitativeComparativeAnalysis #QCA
Yes it's #WorldAnimalDay, and Judith and Chris are flying the flag for #QCA #Quaker Concern for #Animals
