I can’t believe its not @twcauRight, just shipped off a polite and reasonably detailed email to the Transport Minister, because looking into this I’ve also found other important issues involving SmartRider Contactless.
Seems the PTA has done a half-arsed job on the backend too.

Heads up - If you’ve travelled on Transperth using Contactless payment since its launch, check if you’ve been charged for your Sunday travel.
If you have, send an email to [email protected], advising of the incorrect charge and seeking a refund. Include details of where you tapped on and off, and ONLY the last Four Digits of your card (or Apple Pay/Google Pay card number if you tapped with your phone).
Seems there’s a known bug causing it.
