The money would have paid for PhD students to invent better AI systems for everyday people who need programs written for them but can't or won't write them themselves. I'm sad that the rate of progress we make will slow down significantly, because all our progress is made public for everyone to benefit from. That's what #publiclyFunded research is.

The naughty #mayor, despite getting well over a million in #PubliclyFunded legal counsel in his defense, was jailed and Town of Miami Lakes is suing its own former law firm, alleging #negligence and #BreachOfContract. The city's current counsel wants $5 million in damages and says activities conducted "on behalf of that law firm, cost the city millions of dollars.”
