I finally got some good news. After a decade of non-profit work, after months of confusion on where I stood during a confusing period of transition with the Student Aid government site, I’ve now gotten the balance of my student loans forgiven. 🙂
That may sound like a recipe for a small state, but in practice "creating incentives" often involves building huge bureaucracies to "keep the incentives aligned" (that is, to prevent private firms from ripping off public agencies).
This is how we get "solutions" that fail catastrophically, like:
* #PublicServiceLoanForgiveness instead of debt cancellation and free college:

* The #GigEconomy instead of unions and minimum wages:

I have now passed 1 hour on hold to speak with a #Mohela agent about a question on my #StudentLoan #PublicServiceLoanForgiveness forms.
So, this all seems like it’s going great.
If Texas blocks my ability to pay back all of my student loans before I die I'm going to be mad at Texas for a long ass time

I'm looking into the Public Service Loan forgiveness thing as the waiver ends Halloween...but it requires 120 payments as a full time employee of a public or non-profit organization. I have made "payments" in that my IBR is set at $0/month as I earn so little...and I've never been full time. I kinda want to apply anyway and try my luck, but I dunno.
