Why talk about period apps? 🤔

I started The Digital Period because I wanted to examine how deeply personal technologies like period tracking apps can shape our lives, our choices, and our sense of self.

These apps aren’t just tools. They’re intimate systems of measurement 📈
They collect data, reflect cultural norms, and often embed assumptions about our bodies and our needs.

In the prologue, I reflect on how this project began and why these conversations are important to reclaim agency in digital spaces.

Join us for the 21st lecture and discussion in our ongoing quarterly series - Philosophers In The Middle of History - hosted by the Frank Weyenberg Library in Mequon, Wisconsin! This session will focus on understanding a major thinker of the ancient period - Socrates - within the intellectual, cultural, and political context of his times. Each of the sessions in this quarterly series focus on one important figure in the history of ideas, and place them within their broader cultural, political, and social contexts. Each of the thinkers lived and worked in times of considerable conflict and change.
