Thank you for your interest in participating in my dissertation research! My study examines the experiences and expert knowledge of ADHD adults and their pursuit of a doctoral degree. ** You can help close a gap in ADHD lived-experience and educational-outcomes research! ** PROSPECTIVE PARTICIPANTS English-speaking adults of all backgrounds who: 1. Identify as an ADHD adult* and either: - Earned a doctorate requiring a dissertation/thesis (PhD, PsyD, EdD, etc.) - Are currently a doctoral student or doctoral Candidate - Began but discontinued doctoral studies for any reason 2. Can attend four or five 90-minute small-group conversations via Zoom in Oct/Nov 2023. * "Identify as an ADHD adult": Either having sought clinical confirmation of ADHD or self-identified. No medical documentation will be required for participating in the study. In the small-group conversations, you will be invited to share stories from your life experience, to respond to stories shared by others, and to collectively discern meaning from your group's life stories. The research conversations will be recorded and transcribed for analysis, and pseudonyms will be employed in the dissertation, at participants' discretion, to protect anonymity. Efforts will be taken to assemble research groups reflecting diversity in gender identification, ethnicity, type of doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, EdD, PsyD, etc.), academic discipline, economic background, geographic region, and age/generation. If more people express interest than can be included in the conversations, there will be additional ways to share experiences and knowledge to advance understandings through my research.
