The #BrandenburgGate, located on the west side of #PariserPlatz in #Berlin's Mitte district, is the only one of 18 #historic #citygates that still exists. It was built between 1789 and 1793 by order of the #Prussian #King #FrederickWilliamII in the early #classicism style, based on designs by Carl Gotthard Langhans. It was a symbolic border area with the #GDR. C. Münster (2023) presents a historical overview.

Eben mal GRanDMA OnLine ausprobiert: https://grandmaonline.org/ - eine Webseite für " #Prussian #Russian #Mennonite #Genealogy ". Selbst die nur 20 EUR Beitrag für eine 2-Jahresmitgliedschaft waren ein totaler Fehl- #Invest . Die schlechteste #userexperience , die ich seit langem gesehen habe und ich weiß nicht, wo in der Datenbank sich die 1.8 Mio. Inhalte verstecken sollen. Für meine Suche nach #Auswanderung​en von #Mennoniten aus #Hessen und #Rheinlandpfalz war sie zumindest komplett #nutzlos.

Mixed Company in the Contact Zone: the “Glocal” Diplomatic Efforts of a Prussian East Indiaman in 1750s Cape Verde

Abstract This article takes a micro-historical actor-centered approach to study the encounter between the officers of a Prussian East India Company Ship and local elites in 1750s Praia, Cape Verde. Combining recent advances in New Diplomatic History and in Company Studies with insights from the study of Contact Zones and transculturation, it analyzes the diplomatic strategies marginalized and hybrid players could adopt to project themselves onto the early modern global stage and locally counterbalance the hegemonic Northern European Atlantic powers. It thus proposes an alternative model of nonprofessional diplomatic interaction in the early modern period.

Part of Schloss Dammsmühle,
Mühlenbecker See, #Brandenburg

One of the many small and beautiful #Prussian castles near #Berlin that were abandoned after WW2, or used as hospitals or kindergardens during socialist times, but then eventually found a new owner who, depending on his wallet, turned it into a renovation project for life.

I'm currently sometimes working on #Prussian profiles located in today's #Poland on #WikiTree. For that I have to check towns in Polish #Wikipedia. Beside that I struggle with Polish anyway, (actually don't know it), I miss in the Polish Wikipedia-entries often paragraphs about the towns #history. In many of them the only reference to history is "1975-1998 the town belonged to ... Voivodeship". As if the history of the town only started in 1975.
