"In a healthy democracy, governments don't arrest people for holding paper signs."

Defend Our Juries on Instagram: "UNLAWFUL ARREST The Metropolitan Police Arrested a woman under the UK Terrorism Act for holding a paper sign at the Al Quds Day event, despite the ban on Palestine Action being ruled unlawful at the Royal Courts of Justice, and despite the Met stating that they would not be making arrests pending the Home Office appeal over the ban. Ams, a supporter of the Lift The Ban campaign, held a sign with the words “I still oppose genocide - I still support Palestine Action” for just a few minutes at the London event before being arrested after a pro-Israel onlooker reported the alleged ‘offence’. “I still think it’s outrageous and ridiculous that they’re arresting people for holding paper signs because, in a healthy democracy, governments don’t arrest people under terrorism laws for holding paper signs.” We’re mobilising for another mass sign-holding action to end the madness of arresting people for holding these totally non-offensive signs to oppose genocide.
