Dendrobium orchids have one of my favorite propagation techniques: you can take a dendrobium "stick" with no roots, set it on the forest floor, forget about it, check it much later, and it might have a keiki!

Some nuance: as you might be able to tell from the video, it's not *completely* on the forest floor. It's balanced across a pot, so it's lifted a bit off the ground. It's also in the shade, and I covered some of the nodes with leaves, to protect from the sun, and encourage it to root. In short, I tried to mimic "a piece of a dendrobium (that lives in a tree) fell off and landed lower in the canopy. Then, over time, leaves and other growth settled around it."

FYI, I didn't invent this technique. I saw it in a YouTube.

Looking forward to this propagation (green leaf and stem on the left of the glass) of my indoor #hibiskus blooming 🤩🌺 it shares the glass with a #Hoya carnosa 'Flamingo Dream'

Next up. Blooms & buds from plants that I propagated from cuttings & root splitting.

2 different roses - both propagated from Jubilee Hospital gardens cuttings, 3 years ago.
Yucca flower buds - from helping a former neighbour, when I lived in Cedar, split up their overgrown yucca plant. I put several in front of my old place (for future tenants to enjoy) & brought some back to plant here. That was in May of 2019. They just started to flower, this year.

I chopped my Jade plant in half a while back in the hopes of making it branch. While the top half looks to be doing well in it's new pot, the bottom wasn't seeming to do anything at all. About a week ago I noticed a piece of the trunk(?) below where I cut it had loosened away from the rest of the plant and now it *finally* looks to be branching! Look at those tiny nubs! 😍

I also planted the top I had cut off and it seems to be doing well. It has grown at least half an inch and looks healthy. I was a bit worried since the 4 lowest leaves were very... spongy, I guess? But I think they were simply too low on the "new" plant. I cut them off and the rest of the plant seems great!

I am quite proud of this propagation pot 🌞 It's a #tradescantia and a #pothos Neon growing happily next to each other :) This pot has been under a grow light, I think that is why the purple friend took off so well ☄️

The pothos neon actually has some dark green spots on its leaves, I might post that soon :D my very first (kind-of) variegated plant ☘️🪴

Several coronal mass ejections are expected to impact the Earth within the next 24-48 hours, possibly resulting in significant geomagnetic activity and visible auroras in far southern Victoria and Tasmania during local nighttime hours. Aurora alerts will follow if significant geomagnetic activity actually occurs.

This weekend's haul wasn't too bad for how terrible conditions were. Propagation was pretty horrible, but still managed about 50 contacts. Can the sun please chill out a bit?
