#Ethereum and it's metastasizing outgrows like #Solana are a prime example on how #ProofOfStake can be made more harmful and more wasteful than #ProofOfWork.

  • It boggles my mind how much #WastefulComputing that shit takes: Casually saturating #10Gbit-NICs and burning through NVMe-#SSDs with constant IOPS, whilst requiring huge amounts of #RAM.

I hope assholes like #Buterin are banned from any #CCC events for life!

  • The only [technical, not political/financial/regulatory!] problem #Monero has is that it's not fast enough for use in #retail. If it's block rate was about 60-120x faster, it would be a drop-in replacement for #CreditCards! But for like a #Restaurant and #OnlineShopping where 2-6 mins of wait time are acceptable, it already works fine.

Against #PopularBelief, #ProofOfStake is quite often even worse than #ProofOfWork when it comes to #Cryptocurrencies.

At least unlike #Bitcoin these #PoS #Shitcoins don't do #ASIC|s and thus create a shitton of #eWaste.

  • A dedicaded server 'abused' for that workload can still be used for proper computing!

It's just absurd that these businesses burn through #NVMe-#SSD|s and saturate Gigabit-NICs...

  • Meanwhile the next #scam - #bubble ("#AI") is being rode through the town and shoved into everyones' faces despite explicitly refusing to #consent!

@xz @simplex I didn't even waste the time & traffic because #Buterin has a massive #ego and #Ethereum is just a #Shitcoin I din't want to deal with!

  • Not to mention his control over it makes it IMHO even more centralized than #Bitcoin and almost all other #Shitcoins.

Only #Solana is a bigger pain to setup and maintain and really shows how #ProofOfStake can be more resource-intensive and wasteful than #ProofOfWork (espechally when compared to #decentralized, Anti-#ASIC options that are superior like #Monero)…
