You know what would drive down the price of oil other than sending more warships from different countries to escort ships because of Trump’s ‘I had a feeling’ war?
Contesting the stock markets that set the price of oil to benefit companies’ shareholders. Force markets to deal with reality.
Only 25% of oil routes through Persian Gulf. The rest unaffected, and not in peril.

Canadians Cash In While America Burns – The Rover

It’s easy to sit in judgement of the U.S., but Canada has enabled, and even profited from, the rise of American fascism.

"So while American troops are deployed and taxpayers fund the war effort, the president’s sons are investing in companies positioned to profit from that military spending."

"A new report from The Wall Street Journal reveals that Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump are backing a drone company called Powerus that hopes to sell military drones to the Pentagon. The company reportedly plans to incorporate Ukrainian drone technology, the same technology developed during Ukraine’s war with Russia."

A quotation from Bastiat

At least let no one argue that, because an abuse cannot be suppressed without injuring those who profit from it, the fact that it has existed for a time gives it the right to last forever.

Economic Sophisms [Sophismes Économiques], 1st Series, ch. 20 “Human Labor, National Labor [Travail Humain, Travail National]” (1845) [tr. Goddard (1964)]

The culprit behind Loblaw’s $10K fine for promoting imported food as Canadian? Broccoli slaw | CBC News

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has provided CBC News with new details about the $10,000 fine it issued to a Loblaw-owned Superstore last month for promoting imported food as Canadian. The federal food regulator said the mislabelled product was a Loblaw-owned brand: President's Choice broccoli slaw.

A quotation from Franklin Roosevelt

We had to struggle with the old enemies of peace — business and financial monopoly, speculation, reckless banking, class antagonism, sectionalism, war profiteering.
They had begun to consider the Government of the United States as a mere appendage to their own affairs. We know now that Government by organized money is just as dangerous as Government by organized mob.
Never before in all our history have these forces been so united against one candidate as they stand today. They are unanimous in their hate for me — and I welcome their hatred.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt (1882–1945) American lawyer, politician, statesman, US President (1933–1945)
Speech (1936-10-31), Madison Square Garden, New York City

Since the publication of Feynman's "simulation" paper in 1982, researchers in physics, EE, CS, and maths had been trying to build practical #quantum #computers (QC). They had come a long way, over the past four decades. In recent years, random circuit sampling, boson sampling, and several other experiments have demonstrated QC’s supremacy over classical digital computers (DC).

But neither the QC theory nor the technology is practicable, at present. Sure, the Toffoli CCNOT linear, unitary, reversible gate is equivalent to the DC universal NAND gate, so QC can theoretically simulate any DC, including probabilistic ones. But "can" is not "do". The best known hardest quantum algorithm, Shore's 1994 prime factoring, solves an NP problem of DC. In 2026, a QC factored 551. Incidentally, ChatGPT factored it in a blink (cheap shot). And, to date, there is no known efficient quantum algorithm for an NP-complete problem. The general consensus is that QC is just as much subject to that "gut-feel” speed-limit of DC: \(P \neq NP\).

Forty years is an eternity in computing: compare a cheap 2025 gaming laptop to the top-end 1985 SGI IRIS 2000 3D graphics workstation; compare the 1985 CRAY-2 supercomputer to von Neumann’s 1945 paper on the bus-architecture. Goodness me, is DC actually "faster" than QC? Still, QC has proven, demonstrated supremacy over DC, in some narrow, but significant, areas; QC must be studied.

At present, though, #profiteering quantum startups are trading a few buzzwords for a mound of cash, using #WallStreet's proprietary, alchemical process for creating the element \(Au\): heat an admixture of #QC and #AI buzzwords over the hot coals of social media—voilà!

Food banks are great and all, but breaking up the grocery cartels and paying people living wages would be better.
