#Labour and the #CAQ could both learn from #Mongolia
The establishment party in power in Mongolia has a large majority but the electoral system would of crushed them in the upcoming election.
They selfishly implemented #ProRep before the election to ensure their political survival. In the end they've actually managed to stay in power for another round.
Establishment parties should give up on their nostalgia for the days of sharing complete dominance when the writing is on the wall. Just do it.

Very cool that the #Washington State legislature is considering HB 2210 a bill to allow cities to adopt #RankedChoiceVoting , including multi-winner RCV, which is a form of #proportionalRepresentation. https://app.leg.wa.gov/billsummary?BillNumber=2210&Year=2025

A similar bill (SB 212, 2019) passed in California to be vetoed by Governor Newsom. If he'd signed it, more cities could experimenting with PR right now. But he'll be gone next year, so maybe we should try again! #ProRep #STV #California #democracy #CaLeg

When an incumbent government blames vote splitting for their loss, don't fall for it.

Disappointing election in #Montreal for housing, parties still have a dated “we will literally build the affordable housing” approach.
On the bright side it’s great that @CraigSauve boldly put #ProRep on the table and that two #YIMBY members of @construisonsmtl ran in #Westmount with Jessica Winton also supporting #ElectoralReform
Every progressive should have it in their platform, why not? You don’t have to make it the core of the campaign, just have it there.

@crcollins Instead of #RankedChoiceVoting, consider focusing on #ProportionalRepresentation. Ranked Choice Voting still uses single-member districts. It reduces some vote-splitting problems, but still promotes big centrist parties. #ProRep is a property of voting systems. There are many ProRep systems. Almost all have multi-member districts of some kind. They allow multiple parties to flourish and compete. ProRep would benefit the USA by letting less corrupt/captured competitor parties to Rs & Ds become viable.
