Cleansing the house so the entity in the bathtub and I aren't eyeballing each other each time I go to the bathroom, and I can get a little privacy.

Re: Last retoot
Im trying to somewhat keep up with how Switzerland's new laws might pan out. I have already been looking toward other countries that might be a better jurisdiction re: privacy friendly places to have my domain, and host website/email

Looking somewhere away from the 14 eyes:
- United States
- United Kingdom
- Canada
- Australia
- New Zealand
- The Netherlands
- France
- Denmark
- Norway
- Belgium
- Italy
- Germany
- Spain
- Sweden
and now Switzerland is on this "no" list.

I see some companies like 1984.is where they are marketed as a place that activists could use for safe hosting. Someone vouching for these services would give me more confidence on whether that privacy thing is true or not.

Anyone familiar with this company? Iceland isnt one of the Eye Countries, so that much tracks

1984 - Safe hosting in Iceland

1984 is a green ethical hosting company in Iceland. Founded in 2006, 1984 has been dedicated to freedom of speech. We offer the traditional ready to use webhosting with mail services. VPS with preconfigured Wireguard setup, OpenVPN, Nextcloud and more. We continue to offer FreeDNS where you can host as many domains as you like with no restrictions.

Can anyone recommend a good domain registrar? I want something that isnt hosted in a privacy-adverse country like the US. I was originally looking at Swiss based providers, on the idea that their goverment might be more privacy oriented...maybe not so quick to hand over info.

Back in March I had moved one domain over to Infomaniak as a test. Service seemed good and reliable and I liked the idea of their document hosting. However, Im glad I held off:

Data is the new oil (again)
"Big Tech companies [...] received about $3.04 billion in fines for breaking laws [...]. As of seven days and three hours into 2024, they had already earned enough revenue to pay it all off."

Big Tech has already made enough money in 2024 to pay all its 2023 fines | Proton

Big Tech (Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Meta, and Microsoft)'s annual revenue dwarfs total fines. The cost for privacy is insignificant to them.
