One of the olden days telly channels is rebroadcasting Press Gang from the very first episode, and for some not-quite-understood reason my PVR has magically been recording them for me.
That's Sunday afternoon sorted!

#PressGang s2e11 (1990)
Seemingly lightweight episode with a very serious undercurrent. Something the show does really well.
Mostly, it’s about Lynda and Spike working on a news story, and there are chuckles. But Lynda is getting calls where the caller hangs up.
In the end, we learn that this is a direct continuation of the previous episode, and we get a shocking final scene.

#PressGang s2e10 (1990)
Exceptional episode about the aftermath of a disaster. I found it difficult to watch because, not long ago, we had an identical situation in my county.
The way the story was told and #DexterFletcher’s performance (with Spike trapped in the rubble) were both stellar.
Haunting use of the phrase “the rest of my life.” Twice!

There has been a huge explosion at a local block of flats which has a busy record shop underneath. Lynda motivates the team into hurrying to report the breaking news, until she notices that Spike is not present. Lying amongst the rubble, Spike talks to a girl called Mary Brien, buried deeper below the debris and badly injured.
