wait a minute Canada doesn’t have a president, who picked all these pizza flavours at Loblaws
#presidentschoice

We got a random bag of store brand chocolate chip #cookies. They are not great. They remind me of PC’s The Decadent.

Further searching reveals a wide range of positive anecdotes about The Decadent.

Don’t gaslight me internet! I was there. I remember The Decadent. The thin overcooked crunchy as hell garbage that was always a disappointment to find in the pantry.

What say you #Canada? Am I insane or are you?

People who've been reading me for a while may know I really like #hummus.

A while back, I posted about buying a different brand when I was shopping at a different store than I usually go to. It was a brand called Fontaine that I wasn't familiar with - made in Quebec, I believe.

It was awful. Actually inedible. I had one bite and had to throw the container away.

Well, yesterday I was at my local Real Canadian #Superstore - the local flavour of big #Loblaw grocery store - and all the space in the cooler normally occupied by #Sabra hummus - the brand I usually buy, and quite like - was instead taken up by "President's Choice" (house brand) stuff which I don't recall them having before. And there was also Fontaine-branded stuff, which I've never seen there before.

And, uh-oh, the President's Choice stuff is the same sickly pale colour as the Fontaine stuff. Could it be made by #Fontaine for them?

I needed hummus, and those were the two brands available, so I got the President's Choice. And yep, I would bet it's made by Fontaine, although the packaging has absolutely zero info about the source on it, other than "prepared in Canada" [1]. It's #inedible, and I threw out another container.

I guess I'm going to have to make my own. There are a million recipes out there - any favourites you'd care to share?

[1] Read this as "not made in Canada". They probably import chickpea paste and the other ingredients and just put them through a mixer in Canada.

#PresidentsChoice

I just noticed that #PresidentsChoice has taken their reviews off their products. Dammit PC!

Cassandra Pendlethwaite left some fine reviews in their day and now it's all lost.

How much is Weston leg?

One day, starving people, are going to cook and eat the CEO of Loblaws. There's no other way to survive. Record profits, while people starve.. I've never tasted human flesh, pass a piece of the Weston family here, do we get PC points for a leg or arm?

Margaret Anne (she/her) (@[email protected])

"The memo, and Loblaw’s aggressive Twitter PR campaign, made a lot of claims that all seem to hinge on us, the food eaters, believing that one of Canada’s most powerful companies is doing everything it can to help us, instead of doing everything it can to get more and more of our money and more and more powerful. The Coast called Loblaw to speak with Mary about the memo, but since we have not heard back, the memo will have to speak for itself." #SCAM alert: If you are a member of the PC Insider's program (#Loblaw), be aware that their phone number has been hijacked by a MedicAlert sales scheme. You'd think a company the size (and profitability) of Loblaw wouldn't let this happen. There appears to be no way now to reach customer service other than by online message. For reference, the number is 1-833-724-6743 and is still being given out by staff. (Note this is different from the PC Optimum program). #shopping #PresidentsChoice

I bought these beet, sweet potatoes and carrot fries from #PresidentsChoice and they're terrible!!!!
