Weโ€™re among the many who appreciate First Presbyterian Church of Monterey as a peaceful rest stop https://bikemonterey.org/rest-stop-tip-jay-bartow-memorial-garden-monterey.html (and more).

Last Sunday, an unhoused man was found resting in the church courtyard during Sunday service. Read about the response of the congregation. As Pastor Mark Peake wrote in the church newsletter, "It was the gospel lived in real time.โ€

We thought of Rosalyn annd Jimmy Carterโ€” that they would have appreciated this class. Why? https://www.cnn.com/2024/12/31/us/jimmy-carter-evangelical-christians-cec/index.html

BTW, #ClimateJustice and #EarthStewardship are important to FPC. Solar-powered energy production began at the church in 2011. The solar system was expanded to 120 panels in 2024.

When you pause to chat with people who bike๐Ÿšฒ, you see and learn things you miss when someone is in a car.๐Ÿš™ For starters, we learned that this gentlemanโ€“who took off his sunglasses๐Ÿ˜Ž for our conversationโ€“has beautiful blue eyes. ๐Ÿ’™We also learned that he happens to be Christian and attends Calvary Chapel Monterey. He showed genuine โœ๏ธChristian humilityโ€“and his name happens to be Justin Humble! Thank you to Justin for being a good steward of the earth ๐ŸŒŽby reducing carbon emissions every time he bikes๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ for transportation! BTW, we were able to give him a heads up about a beautiful, peaceful rest stop for people out biking or walking nearby โ€“ the Jay Bartow Memorial Garden at First Presbyterian Church, 501 Eldorado, Monterey.
