I've been using #XMPP since before Google became evil, and have never had to shift away because I'm able to take it with me wherever I goβwhether it's #Pidgin with its fancy multiprotocols back in the day or my #KaiOS #FlipPhone today. Contrast that to the centralised platforms where I've tried to make my home only to find the rug pulled away from under my feet one day. Talk about owning your home! π‘οΈ
