Download this free 3D print file designed by Geekman. This is a component for retro Power Macintosh towers. It is a rear ports cover which allows you to use a Power Macintosh G4 (AGP) motherboard in a Power Macintosh G3 (Blue & White) case. I created this for a personal project. If you happen to be undertaking the same extremely rare mod, hopefully you will find this useful! If you print this, I highly recommend using a 0.2mm nozzle for added resolution of the recessed port icons. You could also experiment with top ironing for a smoother surface. You will also need 2x plastic screws in place of the machine screws which previously secured the original (metal) ports panel in place.

It’s back to (almost) full health. I pinched the floppy drive cable to the case, which shorted something out and prevented it from booting.
With that cable replaced, all drives work and everything runs as expected. Now I just need to replace the floppy drive plate because the hooks that hold it in place broke.

This #PowerMacintosh G3 desktop looks, from the outside, to be in good shape. It even came with a keyboard and two mice, and the "getting started" box. No idea where the optical drive went, though.
Update: there's a DVD drive! It's just pitch black and recessed far back into the case.
I'm not going to even connect a power lead until I open it up and check the motherboard. Fingers crossed.
