When details on #HogwartsLegacy were gradually revealed last year, there was a discussion whether goblins in the #PotterVerse were an antisemitic stereotype. One side claimed that theys couldn't be antisemitic caricatures because "they were based on European folklore", while others replied that coding goblins with antisemitic stereotypes has a long history.

This prompted my own dive into how #antiSemitism shows up in German folklore.
