Freniโ€™s manager said the famed soprano who enthralled audiences for half a century died Sunday at her home in Modena, Italy, from a degenerative muscular disease and a series of strokes. Freni was the last in a line of Italian sopranos who prompted ovations with their entrances alone.

Leading British choreographer Dame Gillian Lynne (British dancer and choreographer) has died aged 92.

She passed away on Sunday evening at the Princess Grace Hospital in central London, her actor husband Peter Land said on Twitter.

Dame Gillian began her career as a ballet dancer but achieved her greatest success in the theatre world, devising the dances for Lord Lloyd-Webber's Cats and Phantom of the Opera.
