Das fediverse würde ich (in der Situation) nicht als Nische bezeichnen sondern als Chance von fremdbestimmten, Daten sammelnden, mit Werbung überladenen Plattformen wegzukommen.
"Nischen" sind negativ konnotiert. Sprache (wieder mal) so wichtig.
Das da der Mastodon GF interviewt wurde ist angesichts deren Bekanntheit schon logisch. Es gibt ja keinen fediverse GF oder?
About the only good thing about #rampocalypse is that people suddenly remembered that neither memory nor storage comes for free. I again see people pushing for software with lower memory usage. Which is unusual when for the past 3 decades people basically argued that 6 months down the road a hardware upgrade will solve all memory and storage problems.
