Another nice picture of the sky from last night. This is taken from the Kiltaraglen track off the Staffin road. One of the few remaining place names to evidence the ancient name for #Portree or #PortRigh coming from the Gaelic "Cill Targhlain" or 'the church of St. Talarican'.
Ironically, another place you can find Kiltaraglen is in the very modern #AssasinsCreed game #Valhalla, where the settlement at Portree is named Kiltaraglen.

No #aurora for us as the clouds remained overhead as long as I was out. However it stayed still and calm so there were a series of stunning #reflections around the bay. The #Hebredian seas of the North Atlantic are rarely this calm! 🙂
This was handheld, so the slight wobble and image compression gives a somewhat painterly or dreamlike feel... I think... what you could call either a bad photo or a #HappyAccident , depending on your view of the result 😄

Fingal's seat on the right obscures the more famous peaks of the Black Cuillin, but as the view continues to the left you can make out Glamaig and some of the red hills around Beinn na Caillich. On the left, much closer, Ben Tianavaig guards Portree harbour.
The sheep were much more interested in me than the view 🐑🙂

I had somehow missed that #ThickTrunkTuesday was a thing until now, but happened to take the perfect photo recently.
One of the larger trees on the footpath around 'The lump' in Portree.
A heavy flurry of snow in the small hours has closed the schools and returned the village to white after a few days of thaw.
The trees in town look like coral at first glance (to me at least..🙂), but a crow perched at the very top surveying the scene gives the game away.

Some days the peaks of the #Cuillins, twenty or so miles away from the village, are completely lost in the mist. At other times they appear hazy and distant. On a clear day with the slopes covered in high contrast snow they seem just out of reach.

Another great night for viewing the aurora in Skye. This was in town with a touch of light pollution so it must be very special for anyone with #ClearSkies away from the streetlights 🙂
Once again, dog in one hand, phone in the other.... I'd have missed this had I not been taking pooch for a walk before bed.. I've probably reached the limits of "One handed photos of an aurora, propped against a tree" 😀
