North Melbourne’s wait for a breakthrough win at Adelaide Oval continues after Port Adelaide held off a determined challenge to claim a hard-fought nine-point victory over the plucky visitors. The Kangaroos were left to rue a sluggish start, falling 29 points behind after a damaging late first quarter by the Power. North showed they were up for the fight however, responding in fine style, winning the second quarter five goals to two as they gained the ascendancy around the ground. Despite their spirited comeback, North Melbourne could never quite bridge the gap. A late third-quarter goal from Luke Davies-Uniacke narrowed the margin to just six points, sparking a fiery end to the term with tempers flaring on both sides. Still, the Roos couldn’t complete the upset, as Port weathered each challenge to secure its fourth win from seven games this season.
