#Beetles #Invasive so something particularly I learned is that the #popillia #japonica (the invasive #Japanese beetle) will actually pretend to be dead when caught.

or at least that's what I have observed in the few specimens of their species that I have caught manually.

further observations can still be made, placing them inside my #vivarium.

The Japanese beetle (#Popillia japonica) is native to Japan and has invaded North America and parts of Europe, causing serious #crop losses. Using the mitochondrial genome, 2 distinct population were found in southern and in central/northern Japan. North America was invaded from the latter and 2 invasion events occurred into Europe from western Canada. In #TodaysOJ you can find the Regulation that sets out measures to prevent the establishment and spread of Popillia japonica Newman and measures for its eradication or for its containment.

#Popillia 🪲 È bene sapere che:
1️⃣ Nessuna pianta è mai morta perché infestata da Popillia;
2️⃣ In Lombardia non è mai stata superata la soglia di trattamento su mais e soia;
3️⃣ I trattamenti per Scafoideo su vite sono efficaci anche per Popillia.
