I enjoyed #BlackPanther2 a lot more than I thought I would, but why oh why do scenes have to be so dark? I don't know if #GameOfThrones started this trend - showruners for #HouseOfTheDragon confirmed that dark episode was a creative choice - but I think it ruins the viewing experience when you're supposed to be able to see the action happening.
I thought this film, as well as the first one, has great commentary on imperialism and race. In one of my early class papers, I brought up the hinted-at colonialism in #GuardiansOfTheGalaxy and it would be interesting to compare those early #MCU films to this phase in that respect. Maybe when days become longer than 24 hours and I have all the extra time I need.
It's the same thing for gender roles. The #BlackPanther franchise gets big applause for the Dora Milaje, female leaders on the Council, Nakia the spy using skills and not sex to accomplish her goals...
I'm wondering how many female MCU superheroes have been in serious hand-to-hand combat scenes with the main male villain. I may need to watch #BlackWidow again.
