In a week, doing both AnimeNYC and PopCult, in spite of those being in two different cities  Hooray for Greyhound. (If Amtrak ran at more times, in particular more late night/early morning routes, or if there was a high speed rail option, I'd do that... But nope, a bus it is  .)

Hoping to meet CatChu on Saturday of ANYC. (Really, just going to CatChu events is my main priority there. It's do all the CatChu things, and bounce when there's no more Cats to Chu.)

And performing in the Idol Showcase on Sunday of PopCult with Sora Idols as Guilty Kiss  Gonna be hype!

PopCult this year was amazing!  If anyone on here happens to be in New England (in particular greater Boston) in late August next year, I'd highly recommend going. It's grown since its first year to a good size, but still a nice small con. I feel like I got as much out of it as I do out of large cons, even though it was officially only two days (with a substantive day 0 Friday evening). A few highlights:
-Idol showcase was amazing of course.
-Masquerade was also amazing! A great variety of performances (Tap dancing! A glockenspiel!)
-Someone did a jam session panel which was really cool. They brought a bunch of instruments, had some lead sheets of fun gaming music, and we got to play around (I hopped on bass).
-There were a lot of great panels (several idol themed of course ). Honestly having only 2-4 running at the same time was much less overwhelming than the chaos of choosing between a dozen things every hour in bigger cons.
-The game room was fun, they had Sound Voltex, which I played for the second time ever and started to get used to the level 7 Advanced songs.

Holy cow the idol showcase at PopCult was incredible. Genuinely one of the best I've ever seen. Every performance was so amazing! For the climactic final performance, the organizers Susume Paradise did Miracle Wave, and yep, their Chika did the cartwheel.  And the crowd was so hyped up, it was so much fun!  (Yes my voice is hoarse and my arms ache...)

For my next convention, I'm going to PopCult in Waltham next weekend!

I haven't been to PopCult since the very first one in 2016, which was a bit of an adventure to get to. (Google maps at the time was completely wrong about the bus routes there, and it turned out that there wasn't even a way to get from the train to the con via transit, so I ended up walking several miles along the side of the highway.) The hotel they're in now is still quite far from the nearest commuter rail stop, so I'm planning on going with a friend and splitting ubers between the train and the hotel.

Masquerade + idol festival + a couple panels for idol activities (yes I basically live for this), and I know several cosplayers who are going. Planning on having a new cosplay for this one: Yohane's idolized Unit Battle costume, because I love that suit  . The con's theme this year is isekai, so I feel like my Escaflowne costume is appropriate, but I mostly want to spend the weekend in idol cosplay, so I guess Van will just be day 0.
