Happy New Year’s Eve from New Zealand
A Světlý Ležák and a Polotmavý
Maybe unexpectedly, well suited to Japanese pickles and such for dinner (and some sake)

My polotmavé is mighty tasty
Polotmavé in progress
I’m very pleased with this Polotmavý/Polotmavé
The excess in the small keg is now a couple of weeks settled and perfectly clear. Not so much like Kellerbier at all anymore. Unsure how long I will bother lagering the main keg. This is drinking wonderfully already.
And it tastes even better after stepping out of the sauna.
Kellerbier version of my Polotmavý. As always very young and a wee bit yeasty but this is another great brew. Going to be a good beer for Autumn.
I will always brew 25L batches so I can have a small keg of the beer to enjoy while the main keg lagers. This is the way!
Obligatory wort shot as usual
Brewing a Polotmavý today. Never had one so put together a recipe by reading various sources. Double decoction using the schedule from @akrennmair 1870 Vienna Lager. I like taking 2/3 of the mash to 71° to get that residual malty sweetness. All one big experiment with this beer.
You can see the contrast with the much darker mash after the first decoction.

Speaking of amber beers the next brew in my calendar is a Polotmavý. Never had the chance to drink one but I’m certain I will like the style.
