#PollyToynbee
"Here is the Starmer tragedy, a good and clever man not made for politics or leadership", writes #PollyToynbee in #TheGuardian.

This is a deranged denial of reality.
#Starmer is a serial liar who broke all his pledges made to win the #LabourParty leadership. He purged Jewish ppl as #antisemites, insisted that cutting water for Gaza was legal, & redefined anti-genocide protesters as "#terrorists".
He is the v opposite of a #goodMan
'The word “misinformation” is now all but banned among any in the US relying on government approval: the US National Science Foundation, for instance, terminated grants worth many millions it had awarded to researchers studying misinformation'

The US president, JD Vance and Nigel Farage seem to believe that checking facts is a form of censorship. Nonsense: speech is only free when it is anchored in truth, says Guardian columnist Polly Toynbee
I like Polly Toynbee, even if I often disagree with her. She is consistent and has real, old-fashioned passion for a better society.
In the last year she kept pointing out the hidden good things in the disastrous Starmer/Reeves project. Sometimes she was at least partially right.
Her piece in today's Guardian is about the removal of the whip from a selection of the Labour MPs who voted against the horrible Welfare Bill. She's finally had enough of Starmer's cruelty and incompetence. Even Polly can't defend the man anymore. That means something.
Worth reading. Her contrasting Starmer with Blair is illuminating.
#PollyToynbee is 100% right: it might be the last gasp chance for democracy: lower the vote to 16. The kids CAN'T do any worse than we've done.
