MDMRNI made the typo Pokémom instead of Pokémon and my brain immediately went to Melony from Pokémon Shield.
SimonSaysContinuing on with the playthrough over the last couple of days and I'm now past the 3rd gym. It's honestly really nice playing a modern Pokémon game that has both the open world areas and the more classic Pokémon style routes from the older games. I hope they bring this mixture back for Gen 10. And being able to go into houses? The things we missed in Scarlet & Violet!
I also really like how important they make the gym battles feel too. The big stadiums, having you meet each gym leader before you attempt to battle them, it is a nice touch. After you beat the 3rd gym, the first 3 gym leaders even come to see you off to the next location. The overall story in this game is still pants but there's lots of nice little things I hope they remember for the next games.
During the second gym battle I laughed out loud seeing the face of the Barraskewda I was using creeping into the left of the screen when it was Dynamax, so you can see it too below!

Although I haven't finished Pokémon Emerald Seaglass yet, I got the itch to start a fresh save on Pokémon Shield. I've not played it again since launch and never got around to completing the DLC either. Aside from the... not so great story, I also think it got an unfair hating on because of the Pokédex thing too.
Playing again now and it's still a lot of fun, and honestly the graphics hold up very well. I'm a few hours in and just got to Turrfield where the first gym of the game is. I decided to do some hunting on the outskirts before getting to the town and look what came to attack me. A full odds shiny Electrike. It's name is Sparky 😅
