Great art, captured the story. But overall, you need the movie(s) to fill in plot gaps. That said, it did take Mewtwo's internal trauma and questions about self seriously, which I appreciated. I feel the remake film did not take that seriously enough when compared to the original film.

I liked it, but overall it's more a supplement for those who already saw the movie more than a stand alone manga.

New Manga Read - Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back - Evolution (Series)

Did you watch Pokémon: The First Movie? Did you watch the mediocre all CG remake from 2019? This manga is kind of a tie in to the remake from 2019.

The manga tells the story of Mewtwo. The origin of Mewtwo, him turning to Team Rocket for a while, then going off on his own. Also, the power of friendship saving the day.

I loved the original movie, so I was excited for a manga adaptation. It...was okay.
