If Near Dark & Blue Steel marked out Kathryn Bigelow as a director to watch, Point Break was the film that really launched her into the mainstream. Big fan of this at the time.

@mookie I've got both versions of #PointBreak (1991 & 2015) in my #DVD collection.

The 1991 version is one of Reeve's earliest efforts & it shows. The movie is carried mostly by Swayze. Reviews of it are lukewarm at best.

The 2015 version has no "stars" in it & has been almost universally panned but I like the "action" better in it because it's not limited to surfing & parachuting but includes mt climbing, snowboarding & base jumping.

Neither movie is great but the 2015 version is the one I'd put in the DVD player 1st unless I was doing a retrospective of the 2.

As for surfing movies, #EndlessSummer (1996) is almost always ranked the best but my fave is #BlueCrush (2002) because it feeds my "hop sup lo" predilections.
