I wish I knew about this when I was giving my #PocketPortal workshops: WobbleWeb / wwwobble, an open-source drag-and-drop visual site editor by @ojack.

You can also export the static site to host it on Codeberg or the host of your choice.

On Sunday, I delivered the PocketPortal workshop again: this time, at InterAccess in Toronto for Vector Fest! (thank you, Tiffany!) 🎉

A second workshop = a second version of the zine = two new example projects to remix = testing out the WEMOS D1 mini v2

I'm so happy I got the chance to improve the workshop, and achieve some of the things I didn't have time to do the first time around (like a slide deck and more example projects).

For the #PocketPortal workshop, I wanted to include a clickable SMS link in one of the page examples. Clicking it would open the texting app with text and phone number set, inspired by moonshine.mu's "SMS for location".

You may have encountered similar links which use mailto: (for email) and tel: (for telephone) in the site's #html markup.

Anyway, doing so is trickier for SMS, but StackOverflow came in clutch: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/6480462/how-to-pre-populate-the-sms-body-text-via-an-html-link/58131833#58131833

Today, I gave the very first #PocketPortal workshop to 30+ people at the Open Hardware Summit @oshwassociation, based on/remixed from the @iffybooks's zine. 🎉

It was my first time building a zine, first time giving this workshop, and first time making kits of this kind.

Couldn't have asked for a more gracious and engaged crowd! ❤️ Kudos to Sid and Lee of the #OHS2024 team, to Hillary, the volunteer who quite literally saved this workshop, and to everyone else involved in the Summit.
