Help with removing broken faucet aerator - tchncs

geteilt von: https://discuss.tchncs.de/post/57229837 [https://discuss.tchncs.de/post/57229837] > Hello! My bathroom faucet has an insert aerator. We attempted to remove it in order to remove the chalk in the faucet, and broke the bottom part off as a result. The keys we have to remove the aerator are now not working, and we can’t quite get it out. > > Does anybody have any suggestions? We’ve tried using thin pliers for electronics to grab it and twist, but we can’t get a good enough grip. A few photos attached: the remaining part inside the faucet, the broken off bottom part, and the keys that we have. > > [https://discuss.tchncs.de/pictrs/image/fd84c77f-0bb5-4bac-9483-310f067fca85.jpeg] > > [https://discuss.tchncs.de/pictrs/image/acd5e206-607c-42c5-9dbe-6f48245f56c2.jpeg] > > [https://discuss.tchncs.de/pictrs/image/d4eea32a-395c-44e7-89de-1b9006264feb.jpeg]

British plumbing, in my forty year old house anyway, feels very "minimum viable product", safety valves hidden away in hard to access places, and designed to be installed and sold rather than maintained.

Has plumbing technology improved in the last twenty years, so I should get a plumber to install better valves?

And incidentally, is this a british thing or a global thing, US videos seem to show lots of lovely coloured handles on their valves...

Anyone on here have personal experience with heat-pump hot water tanks? Our HWT is overdue for replacement and one of the options I’m looking at is heat pump.

One concern I have is that they (apparently) cause the area where they’re placed to become colder (naturally, as they collect heat from the surrounding environment) which is a bit of worry since our basement is already a bit on the cool side and our oldest son lives down there.
