Is this really Million dollar grass, Dad? Such a fine surface. It was great to run around on it today. Did you really stop it from being #syntheticgrass?
(Redevelopment of #HoskenReserve in #CoburgNorth cost at least $10.6 million)

In vitro endocrine and cardiometabolic toxicity associated with artificial turf materials

Artificial turf, a consumer product growing in usage in the United States, contains diverse chemicals, some of which are endocrine disruptive. Endocri…

I'm going to be cynical here. But this is the council who added #plasticgrass to a "regenerated" pedestrian area near the station. It's a vast area with no greenery to speak of, except the plastic kind. So forgive me if I'm sceptical about their rationale behind this new #housingdevelopment.

The homes will be replaced with just nine new council properties.

@BrentToderian @dmoser could you add #alttext so I can boost? Also, hope that's not #plasticgrass (anyone know if it is or not)?
#PFAS in #syntheticturf: “We put these products out into the environment without truly understanding their fate. Unfortunately, scientists and public health advocates have to scramble and try to put the Genie back in the bottle on this.”

Turf fields may have ‘forever chemicals.’ Should kids be playing on them?

Researchers are conducting studies to determine whether PFAS and other chemicals detected in turf can end up on athletes and pose a risk to their health.

Dad did some #citizenScience at 1.10pm: Hot day on #Merribek #PlasticGrass - temperature measurements at Clifton park synthetic pitch:
Ambient Temp 30.4C
Synthetic grass 60C
Concrete path 44C
Green grass in sun 42C
Brown grass in shade 28C
Brown grass in sun 51C #Urbanheat #microplastics
@officehippy omg. This almost feels worse than outright rejecting nature altogether. How many people have #plasticgrass with pot plants, believing they're doing the right thing? Probably the same people who use pesticides on their plants & chemical cleaners on their lawns. And I bet sales of plastic grass also increase because of that display, completely undermining any positives which otherwise would have been gained. Ugh.

"#ArtificialLawns are seen as an #environmental #disaster, usurping habitats for insects and wild plants... No bugs, no weeds. That’s why the Springwatch presenter Chris Packham described #ArtificialGrass as the “horticultural #antichrist"."
