I would be interested if someone calculated costs of both strategies in more absolute units such as kJ or moles of glucose, or something similar.

Seed dormancy is not only a *bet-hedging* strategy (eg, in unpredictable environments), it can also be a *best-bet* strategy, eg in fire-prone environments!
